Sadly, in June 2016 I drove Toast back to his breeder due to conflict between he and Squash that I do not have the space or skills to deal with properly. He has subsequently found a permanent home with an amazing trainer and is being trained in IPO, which judging from the pictures I’ve seen of him he is loving.
Toast is a Belgian Malinois born in November 2014. As of fall 2015 he had graduated from training on foot to joining the team for short drylands runs, and should be doing full runs for the 2016 drylands season. Although the winter of 2015-2016 was largely not cooperative, he did have his introduction to skijoring and is really excelling. He has an incredible drive to pull and is a fantastic addition to the team who also fits in well to our household and adores the other dogs, but he is an extremely intense dog who needs a lot of physical and mental stimulation to stay happy. (And by that I mean, for the love of god don’t run out and get a malinois just because Toast is so dang handsome.) In addition to mushing, we are dabbling in disc and starting foundations agility.
When not training or mushing, Toast enjoys tugging, yelling, swimming, playing with the other dogs, sprinklers, chewing, and cuddling on the couch. And yelling.
